The Dual Energy X-Ray Absorbimetry Scanner, commonly known as a DEXA Scanner, has recently been added to the equipment at the Radiology Department at KMHD!  DEXA Scanning is the most widely used method to measure bone mineral density which indicates bone strength.  It precisely documents small changes in bone mass and can be used to examine both the spine and extremities. Many people, both male and female, are at risk for fracture due to pre-mature bone loss.  Ask your medical care provider if you would benefit from a bone density evaluation.
